Buddy Guy – The Blues Don’t Lie (Album Review)

November 8, 2022

“I left louisiana some 60 years ago, bought me a one way ticket to sweet home chicago…I dont say too much, let my guitar do the talking” sure is a powerful way to start your 34th studio album. In his newest album, The Blues Don’t Lie, industry proclaimed godfather of the guitar Buddy Guy shows the world that the blues are far from dead while detailing and reflecting on his life and the state of the world today. With songs like “The World Needs Love”, Guy takes his emotions and puts them to a passionate blues guitar with an ensemble of piano, bass, and drum to build an extravegant piece of music that engages both your mind and your soul. Guy, like always, shows his range in ability by ending the album with a slower more romatic note of “King Bee” where he is singing over an acostic guitar about his love for a girl. This album is all around a feel good album for people who want to feel spiritually connected to a major player in blues and rock history.
