Capital Punishment: Heavy Breathing & Misun w/BCKWTR

General Manager

For WVAU’s FREE YEAREND SHOW, we’re hosting a warped beats-frenzied tripleheader with D.C. acts Heavy Breathing and Misun and AU’s own DJ BCKWTR on Saturday, December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Kay Basement. After all, this is WVAU’s last Capital Punishment before the Mayan apocalypse turns us all to dust, so let’s see the universe out in style with one final party.
This show is free and open to the public, so naysayers, you better think of a better excuse to skip this one.

Heavy Breathing

“Composed of former members of D.C. art-house garage punks The Apes, Heavy Breathing combines sputtering, pre-programmed beats and robotic vocals with the sweat-soaked energy of a good ol‰’ fashioned rock show.” – Washington CityPaper

“With Amanda Kleinman‰’s Antony Hegarty-esque singing over ‰’80s Italo dance beats emanating from The Rhythm Machine (laptop), Erick Jackson‰’s Van Halen-style kick-jump, and the intense pounding of Jeff Schmid‰’s transparent drumkit, I really can‰’t think of a local band that‰’s more fun to see live.” – The Vinyl District

Misun

“If you love Portishead, you will love Misun. The Nacey protÌ©gÌ©e has the same gentle, downtempo flush, the same intoxicating blend of electronica, pop and vulnerable, silver-throated songwriting.” – RCRD LBL

“Misun describes their music as “aquawave,‰” but their marine-inspired EP is pop at its purest.” – The Fader
