WATCH OUT FOR Another One by Mac DeMarco

COMING OUT August 7th, 2015

Following a trail of multiple strange YouTube videos, Mac DeMarco has announced the release of his new EP, Another One. Word of the Canadian artist‰’s first album came after the release of a YouTube video last April. The video appears to be filmed by DeMarco‰’s girlfriend Kiki, and it features footage of the 25-year-old indie star making the EP. Along with horrible editing and random footage of DeMarco driving around the outskirts of New York City to buy some “cigareeeeeettes,‰” the video also previews bits of audio from DeMarco‰’s upcoming EP.

Last May saw the release of Demarco‰’s first full-length track titled “The Way You‰’d Love Her.‰” While the track is definitely an upbeat, chill opus to follow up Demarco‰’s previous album Salad Days, it doesn‰’t do much to differentiate from the artist‰’s third record.

Just a few weeks ago DeMarco‰’s song “Another One‰” was released on YouTube in a music video featuring what is believed to be him dancing on a shore of rocks, wearing a Michael Jackson mask. While the song does feature a simple stuttering snare and ride symbol drumbeat accompanied with a semi-tuned guitar, the track is mainly composed around DeMarco‰’s piano, which gives the song its unique sound. The track does much more than play along with the music direction of Salad Days or even 2, Demarco‰’s second record.

Another One will feature eight songs including the two recently released singles. There will also be an instrumental version of each song. In addition to new music, DeMarco and his band released a video, “two dry dudes,‰” videotaping the group‰’s travels around the Dead Sea. Narrated by DeMarco, the video shows members of the band making strange faces at a camera in a car, making strange faces at a camera in the middle of a town, and making strange faces at a camera while swimming in the Dead Sea. The video is filmed like a home, which is typical of DeMarco’s group.

DeMarco and his band will be returning to D.C. for a show at Howard Theater on Wednesday, October 14th of this year. Be sure to get your tickets before it’s too late!
