Jukebox the Ghost

Indie pop/rock fans, rejoice! Jukebox the Ghost takes the stage at the 9:30 Club this Friday October 8th. With a fresh twist on piano rock and a colorful array of songs, Jukebox the Ghost is sure to be a crowd pleaser for die-hard fans and newbies alike. They will be joined by Fleece, an emerging band whose sound is a blend of psychedelic and indie rock with a hint of grunge.

Composed of Ben Thornewill, Tommy Siegel, and Jesse Kristin, the band met and formed in 2003 while attending college at George Washington University here in Washington, DC, making this Friday’s show special for both the band and the audience as “hometown” energy kicks in for the performers.

To the delight of Queen fans, Jukebox the Ghost’s music is heavily influenced by the band Queen. “Something magical about Queen to me is that their songs are so catchy, but the song structures are so wonderfully wrong and they’re so unafraid to showcase their chops,” said Tommy Siegel, vocalist and guitarist. Listeners and concertgoers can expect to hear bombastic electric guitar and strong vocals in their songs, similar to those found in Queen songs.

Their most recent album, Off to the Races, released in 2018, is their fifth studio album and is a culmination project of all of their past sounds. More recently, they released a single last month, titled Cheers!, to promote their US tour (part of which is their concert this Friday). The single draws sounds from Queen-style stadium rock and Jukebox the Ghost’s own signature piano rock in an upbeat, quirky way.

Jukebox the Ghost will be playing at the 9:30 Club this Friday, October 8th at 7pm. Doors will open at 6pm. Tickets are $32 (+ $10 fees) and can be purchased here. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test from the past 72 hours and a valid photo ID will be required at the door.
