I love music, but I hate organizing it. I’d rather spend time listening to songs than sorting them! So, I steal all my friend’s playlists and enjoy the fruits of their labor. And now I’m going to share them with you.

This week, I’m highlighting Sydney Muench’s playlist, romcoms are good. Syd is my roommate and one of my favorite people on this planet. A true Aquarius with magnetic optimism and a fantastic sense of rhythm, this girl has put together a great playlist about her favorite thing- love. Just in time for February!

“I just love love,” Sydney confirmed. This playlist is an homage to how it’s portrayed in romantic comedies. These kinds of movies always have fantastic soundtracks. From the quirky montage music to heart-swelling proposal ballads, the background themes can get you feeling the love.

“I love watching romcoms,” Sydney said. “That’s like my guilty pleasure.”

Romcoms get a lot of hate for their cheesiness and unrealistic standards. In the time of Tinder, it often seems ridiculous to imagine them kissing you in the rain, chasing you through an airport, or dramatically confessing their love in public. We’re lucky if we get a text back.

But extreme unrealism is also the best thing about romantic comedies. You can easily escape into a ridiculous 90-minute love story and come out the other side with warm, fuzzy feelings.

So, Sydney dedicates this playlist to hopeless romantics like herself. You know who you are- why not give in to those feelings and hit shuffle?

When creating this playlist, she aimed to capture the silly, cringey butterflies those sappy movies give you. If Sydney is seeking to romanticize her life, this playlist is on.

“Not even when I’m thinking about someone specifically but just when I’m in that mood,” Sydney said, keeping true to her Scorpio moon.

Since love transcends genre, this playlist almost has it all. You’ll find everything from classic love songs like “L-O-V-E” by Nat King Cole to heart-squeezing beats like “Die For You” by The Weeknd. About six hours of passion and sentiment, this one will tug at- no, rip out your heartstrings.

If you like Sydney’s taste in music, you might also enjoy her rom-com recommendations. Her favorites are “When Harry Met Sally” and “10 Things I Hate About You”.
