One Year Later, Twiddle Returns to Baltimore Under Different Circumstances

April 6, 2023

The American blues-country-rock jam band Twiddle will drop by the Baltimore Soundstage on  April 7th as part of their Spring and Summer ’23 tour. The show begins at 8:00 pm, and will be  opened by One Time Weekend. Baltimore is a regular stop for the Vermont natives, who paid a  visit to the same venue nearly a year ago, on April 14th, 2022. However, this time around, the  band is playing under a different set of circumstances that give the show a bittersweet feeling for their loyal fanbase that last welcomed the group to the DMV at the 9:30 club in Washington  on January 19th of this year.

The same fans will commute en masse this coming Friday to enjoy Twiddle’s classic hits; songs  consisting of characters and scenes from bizarre worlds, playful praise for fruits and fungi alike,  and heartfelt wisdom for all of life’s moments, good and bad. The DMV’s jam band diaspora can  look forward to hearing their favorite classics from the band’s first three albums, as well as  their newest release, Every Last Leaf, a record that pairs up-tempo funk with Twiddle’s  signature country-blues sound.

The new album, released in August of 2022, has injected the group’s Spring/Summer tour with  a fresh sound and new energy. My family, having been loyal fans of the group since we were  introduced in 2014, have been thrilled to hear these catchy new hits mixed in with our  household favorites. I was lucky enough to score a ticket to the band’s January show in DC, and  my parents and brother scored seats to their show at the House of Blues in Boston. Like all  devout followers of the beloved quartet, we have had to confront the bittersweet nature of this  tour. Mihali, the band’s front man and guitar Jedi, announced on November 29th of last year  that this would be Twiddle’s final tour before an indefinite hiatus.

Twiddle will journey to Baltimore from New York City where they play at Webster Hall on April  6th. They will continue to Harrisburg, PA and several other Northeastern and Midwestern cities  until the tour’s grand finale in Providence, RI in October. This show will be last chance for the DMV’s chapter of loyal fans to dance to Jamflowman and Orlando’s, or cry it out to When it  Rains it Pours and Lost in the Cold, though setlist predictions may only be taken with a grain of  salt, as the group rarely repeats any of their songs on consecutive nights. Baltimore Soundstage  will draw a full crowd of jammers and former deadheads to revile in the love, energy, and  companionship that follows the group wherever they go.

Stay tuned next week for a breakdown of the setlist and a review of the band’s last trip to The mid-Atlantic, for now.
