Howdy one and all! Looking for a spectacularly spooky and rockin’ concert this All Hallows Eve? Well, hold on to your witch hats and pumpkins, because the art collective and shoegaze band Julie is coming to Songbyrd on Oct. 31, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m.! This will be Julie’s first time in the D.C. area, and they’re hot off the heels of their romp through the United Kingdom and Europe! Hailing from Los Angeles, the band has been heavily active, yet are meticulous in their songwriting, only having dropped singles and EPs over the last three years. Made up of members Dillon Lee (drums), Keyan Pourzand (guitar/vocals), and Alex Brady (bass/vocals), the trio have exploded in popularity, with their first song “Flutter” (which you should ABSOLUTELY listen to) having 25 million listens on Spotify! Their music plays with ideas of nostalgia and the darker elements of the past seeping out from behind rose-tinted glasses, with meticulous lyrics and instrumentation building and blossoming into explosions of passion and gloom alike!

Julie will be performing with the indie rock band Deux Visages that night! Deux Visages are an indie garage rock band hailing from Miami, and they seem like a match made in heaven to be playing with Julie! Their newest song “Tethered” builds off of this extremely catchy melody before changing up the drumming into a complex but still extremely groovable beat! Distorted guitar tones play with vocals that dance on top, making the cohesiveness of the band an absolute treat and something to look forward to even more! Go give their songs “Cheetah” and “Tethered,” they’re absolute bangers!

Both of these bands are ramping up their single releases in anticipation of releasing more. Deux Visages have two songs, hopefully foreshadowing the release of their first album or EP, and Julie has recently released their single “Catalogue,” which foreshadows their first album! By going to this show, you can get a first-hand (or in this case, first-ear) of new material before it’s been released! You can get tickets here, and I hope to see you there! Let’s be sure to give Julie and Deux Visages a D.C. welcome!
