Prepare yourself for a night full of electric energy and rock staples as Sleater-Kinney takes the stage at The Anthem on March 12, 2024. Sleater-Kinney, originally formed in the riot grrrl scene, is known for their explosive live performances and an unmistakably punk spirit. Corin Tucker and Carrie Brownstein, the duo that makes up the backbone of the group, are sure to deliver another spectacular show for their tour supporting their 11th studio album, “Little Rope.

Sleater-Kinney originally started as a side project while Tucker was a member of riot grrrl band Heavens to Betsy and Brownstein was in Excuse 17. After both bands broke up, Tucker and Brownstein shifted their focus to Sleater-Kinney as their main project in 1994. Although they have had rotating drummers, most notably Janet Weiss of Quasi, Sleater-Kinney has always remained true to their feminist punk rock sound.

The band was an essential piece of the ‘90s riot grrrl movement, and the influences of punk continue into their music today. Between 1994 and 2005, Sleater-Kinney put out seven studio albums. However, the band split in 2006 after a trying show experience, and members focused on solo projects. In early 2014, Brownstein said that the band was no longer active, but in October of that same year, Sleater-Kinney announced a new album, “No Cities to Love,” a decidedly feminist album. Ever since, the band has continually put out new, exciting work. Their latest album, “Little Rope,” exceeds expectations for this veteran band in their 30th year since its founding.

You will not want to miss the upcoming showcase of Torin’s legendary powerhouse vocals and Brownstein’s mighty guitar. They will be performing at the Anthem on March 12, 2024, with support by Black Belt Eagle Scout. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are still available for purchase and can be found here
