Show Spotlight: Mermaid Tea Party with Elise Polentes
April 10, 2012
Mermaid Tea Party – Tuesdays 9am-10am
Three artists played most on your show:
This is difficultÛ_but probably Modest Mouse, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and The Shins. And maybe Eminem and David Bowie also.
Dream Capital Punishment:
In a perfect world, Devendra Banhart. He’s a fantastic, Hispanic, “freak-folk” musician from the West Coast, his music is distinctive yet diverse, and I don’t think enough East Coasters appreciate his music for what it is!
Last great concert you saw:
The Decemberists in Atlantic City over the summer.
Favorite song in 8th grade:
Capital H by Motion City Soundtrack (being honest). I knew all of the words, even in the super-fast chorus.
Favorite music video:
I never really watch music videos Û_ but I liked Lana Del Ray’s Born To Die. Also, it’s not an official music video, but look up the acoustic version of O.N.E. by YeasayerÛÓit’s fantastic. On the video, you can see the band performing live in a radio station, and they way the create the sound effects when acoustic is fantastic.
Dream band dinner date:
Modest Mouse. Easily. The Silk City Diner in Philadelphia. We would talk about their crazy journey as a bandÛ_I would want to know everything, I would want the sex-drugs-rock’n’roll story that I’m sure they have, somewhat like the book Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis, but instead with the story of Isaac Brock and company!
Final thoughts about Mermaid Tea Party:
It’s quite the assortment of soundsÛ_I like a lot of diverse music and I like jumping around between genres. But it’s always quality, always funÛ_tune in, fishies! Mermaid me will be swimming in the radio waves every Wednesday at 9am!
