Old-timey Rock and Roll, like really, really old-timey

Full of grit and grime, but not without a certain flair for showmanship, JD Wilkes & The Dirt Daubers harken back to a golden age when rock was in it‰’s infancy and the likes of Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins terrified parents across the nation. Featuring both male and female lead singers and Wilkes‰’s blistering harmonica stabs, the Dirt Daubers sound like the house band of some seedy, swampy bar down South, mixing heavy, distorted guitars with saxophones, piano and other seemingly antiquated rock and roll instruments. Since this album is emulating sounds of the past, the songwriting isn‰’t always horribly original, but they‰’re performed with such piss and vigor that it‰’s tough not to get caught up in the pure energy of it all. Overall, Wild Moon is a worth listening to, especially to anyone experiencing modern music fatigue.
