Baltimore group steps up their game

I‰’ve always known Sun Club to be messy, totally unorganized, and entirely unreliable live. Sometime in the past few months, however, these Capital Punishment alum‰’s have really stepped up their game, releasing an EP with clear direction, solid production, and the element of bright, shining joy that has defined them from the start. Dad Claps at the Mom Prom has hooks for days and great songwriting to boot, complemented by tight performances on all fronts, vocal, instrumental, and otherwise. This EP is, at its most basic, a party record, and even its more dramatic moments still feature choruses fully intended to be shouted along with inside an absolutely packed basement. Sun Club is not exactly a ‰complex‰’ band, and they really just want their music to speak for itself. It doesn‰’t need to be examined under a microscope, just sing along to it and let it get stuck in your head, you‰’re going to have a good time.
