One of my favorite album releases of 2016 was Bad Suns‰’ sophomore album, Disappear Here. And luckily, I got to see them live this weekend at the Rock and Roll Hotel, along with the opener, indie rock band Coin. And honestly, this show was life changing and no, I‰’m not being dramatic. This show was electric, intense and intimate and that embodies a lot of my experience in Dupont. So stay with me, and listen to this great album as we explore Dupont.

Let‰’s start with one of my favorite songs off the album, “Swimming in the Moonlight.‰Û

Besides the fact that my star filled soul is in love with the title of this song, I absolutely love how this song flows, starting out with a light harmony, quickly picked up and accompanied with Bowman‰’s smooth vocals. The energy in this song is vibrant and uplifting, making you want to scream the lyrics “Here outside, it’s just you and I / I couldn’t love you more if I tried / It’s crystal clear as we disappear / Swimming in the moonlight.‰” I get the same vibes walking through Dupont late at night, lights flickering and street signs glowing.

Another wonderful, dance worthy song on Disappear Here is “Even in My Dreams, I Can‰’t Win.‰”

This song gets stuck in your head for days. This song makes you use all your Spotify skips because you‰’re trying to listen to is as soon as possible. And during the Bad Suns show, the band created this catchy song into an experience, causing the entire audience to roar the lyrics and dance like nobody’s watching.

This whole album is like a sun shining bright and starts a fire in your soul. So fun and so electric, taking over your body. This album just puts you in a good mood and is often what I listen to when I walk through Dupont. “She’s a sunrise dressed like dusk.‰Û

Take the song “Draft Pretty Boys.‰” Throughout the song during the concert, I remember screaming the lyrics to this song on the top of my lungs. “Like the gates of heaven are open now / And my one true love has just waltzed right out / Yeah, there’s one thing about me that you should know / That I can’t help from speaking my mind.‰Û

My concert experience at the Bad Suns and Coin concert was one of a lifetime, and while this column of Soundscape is different from others, I hope you feel the electricity that I do when I listen to Bad Suns and see how electric Dupont always is. Also, here‰’s some more photos of the event and the Disappear Here album.
