This is one of the most wholesome memes I have ever laid my eyes on, in that it depicts an act of kindness to someone in need of a pick-me-up. It reads, “Your sadness” and “Me, trying to take away your sadness,” where a cat tugs at a blanket. I thought I would lighten up the mood from my last column and give you a playlist that depicts the feeling of comforting love.

The first song on the playlist is “I Love You So” by The Walters, which has a slow tempo that cultivates a relaxing sense. The sweet guitar melody creates the feeling of a warm, snuggly blanket as singer Luke Olson repeats the lyrics “I love you so, please let me go” in the chorus. This is undeniably a comforting song for those who need it.

A Summer Salt fan favorite, “Sweet to Me” is a refreshing surf rock jam. This song incorporates vibrant and breezy guitar pop that is very reminiscent of the Beach Boys. I could see myself having a hard day and trying to imagine that I’m in a better place like the beach, sipping on a piña colada, and basking in the sun while playing this song.

Singer/songwriter Rex Orange County’s most popular track “Loving Is Easy” is in collaboration with artist Benny Sings. This song has elements of jazz and bedroom electronica which together build a calming impression. Not to mention the title itself brings a reassuring notion of what love is supposed to be, which is easy and free.

The final song on the playlist is “On Melancholy Hill” by Gorillaz, which is a charming song that opens with a lively electronic melody. The muffled voice recording along with the strong synth creates a smooth and serene response. It makes you feel like you are floating on a cloud, which is a peaceful and necessary sensation when you are feeling a bit down.

I hope to have provided you with tracks that can help shape a more ideal emotional state. We all need a bit of TLC every once in a while, and music can be a tool to either enhance or alter your current frame of mind.
