WVAU is proud to announce that it will be hosting its winter Capital Punishment concert with Alex G and Hop Along on Saturday, December 5th. Join us in Tavern at 8pm for the show of the semester!
The concert is open to American University students and is free with your AU ID.
Alex G
Pennsylvania native Alex Giannascoli largely flew under the radar, using his stage name, Alex G, to release self-produced tracks recorded in his bedroom on Soundcloud. His introspective lo-fi indie pop caught the ear of Mat Cothran of Elvis Depressedly in 2012 and has since been an indie favorite. Alex G’s latest album, Beach Music, is a favorite of WVAU DJs and has nuzzled itself into the station’s top spins for the majority of the semester.
Hop Along
Hop Along melds a the captivating vocals of front woman Frances Quinlan with explosive yet nonetheless sincere indie rock backings. Hailing from Philadelphia, the band’s 2012 debute album took the indie music press by storm and garnered much excitement within their growing cult following for their sophomore album, Painted Shut, released earlier this year.
