Excerpts from the Genrenomicon w/ Anthony Holten

Wednesdays 3-4pm

Ancient legend tells of a mythic grimoire that in its chapters succinctly details each and every genre of music that there was, is, and ever will be. The Genrenomicon (as referred to in the diaries of Mozart, the Biblical David, and Michael Jackson) was once considered a piece of historical fiction due to lack of evidence, but in 2018 archaeologists have cross referenced what they believe to be several pages from a 5th century copy strewn across the globe. Even though the research is ongoing and yet unpublished, American University has been granted the privilege of receiving pages one by one on a rotating academic loan, with teams of wonks working to decode the Genrenomicon piece by piece. Each week “Excerpts from the Genrenomicon,” hosted by Anthony Holten, will update listeners each week on air with an hour of music from one of the micro-genres cataloged within its pages.
