Thursday, April 2: The View Between Villages by Noah Kahan

Imagine you’re driving to Shenandoah with your friend to go on a hike, and you play some Noah Kahan to get in the mood. Then imagine the service goes out and because you’ve been listening to Noah Kahan that is the only music that will load on your phone. That actually wasn’t today, it was Wednesday, but that trip sure did stick with me. We hiked down to the waterfall and then went to Sonic to get drinks and Cookout to get hushpuppies. I’ve been thinking about Shenandoah ever since. Thursday it was back to real life, but I still returned to this song. If you want a glimpse of my tiny hometown, this song is it.

Friday, April 3: It Ain’t Me, Babe by Joan Baez

It’s time to drive home for Easter! I love listening to this song on roadtrips (probably because I love to sing it).

Saturday, April 4: Fitter Happier by Radiohead

My friend from before texted me and asked “What was I dying over in the car Wednesday?” I’ll tell you what I told her: I have an app on my phone that wakes you up and makes you do math problems to turn the alarm off. We’re driving down the highway and all of a sudden it goes off, because I had forgotten to turn it off for the day as we left really early in the morning. Except, the usual sound isn’t going off. “Fitter, happier. More productive. Comfortable. Drinking less,” is blasting through the car exactly as the alarm goes off – and I’ll remind you, it won’t turn off unless the math problems are solved. I hand it to my friend, who is in fact, laughing quite hard at this. Both of us are confused beyond belief. If you’ve heard this song before, maybe you wouldn’t have been as alarmed, but we, my friend, had not. I truly believed something had happened to my alarm to make it say these robotic words.

Sunday, April 5: When You Were Young by The Killers

Easter, but my family celebrated the day before because I had to drive back to DC on Sunday. This is just a pretty good song, that’s all.

Monday, April 6: Lust for Life by Lana Del Rey ft. The Weeknd

This album is my quintessential spring album. I know, I know, it’s way more of a summer album, but I always feel the urge to play it when it starts getting warm enough to drive around with my windows down. So important to me this album is, I created my radio show around this song for today.

Tuesday, April 7: Peter by Taylor Swift

“And I won’t confess that I waited, but I let the lamp burn. As the men masqueraded, I hoped you’d return with your feet on the ground, tell me all that you learned. ‘Cause love’s never lost when perspective is earned.” Yeah.
