Whenever I get asked what I am listening to, I usually respond with the name of a small artist and am met with “oh I don’t know them, who is that?” as a response. I am a self-proclaimed small-artist enthusiast and think I have a talent for discovering small artists before they get big. For that reason, I decided to share some of my favorite small artists’ names and stories to share the amazing feeling of watching a small artist grow into the music industry. This week I’ll be writing about the awesome Bo Staloch.
Austin, Texas grown, Bo Staloch is a quickly emerging indie-folk singer-songwriter who brings a refreshing positive energy to the stage and the music scene in Nashville, where he is currently based.
With multiple singles and Extended Play projects released, Staloch is gaining more and more attention and is currently signed to Capitol Records under Universal Music Group and is coming off of a big year. In 2025, he went on tour with Ashe on her comeback Trilogy Tour and went on his very first headline tour – The Garden Tour – among other huge accomplishments. On his very successful headline tour with multiple sold-out dates, he went to 18 cities all over the U.S. with support from Emma Ogier.
Staloch moved to Nashville, the music city, a few years ago to attend Belmont University, which is a starting ground for many up-and-coming artists with a lot of buzz around their name right now like Abby Powledge and Emma Andersen. Like many of his peers, Staloch booked tours and ended up moving on to a professional music career before graduating from Belmont.
Staloch has become a prominent figure in Nashville’s indie-folk community in the last few years. He has gained attention on social media by posting covers and originals with them – most popular being with his on-stage band and Sydney Rose, indie artist who just wrapped up three legs of tour last year and is most known for her song “We Hug Now.”
It is clear he values his friendships and community, both on-stage and off. His entire band has been playing together for years now, Nina Naples playing bass, Jonathan Sayler on drums, and Ronin Kiekbusch on guitar. They all are very close and act like family. Staloch and Sayler often get confused as brothers, they joke that they act and look like they are even though they are simply roommates and bandmates.
Those human connections are something he highlights in his music. Staloch’s style is vulnerable and intimate, but can also get to be loud and high-energy. For the slower and honest tracks, he finds a way to grab the audience’s heart-strings. Songs from his “Your Eyes Tell Stories” EP are beautiful and soft.
“Spring Time Red Tulips,” Staloch’s debut single from his EP, is a fan favorite with story-telling lyrics that sting in the best way. The lyrics “Honey, you’re okay, breathe” linger as an after-thought for a while after the song ends. The song is one of the most popular with over six million streams and counting.
Bo Staloch is here to stay and is an artist to watch. Keep your eyes out for him, his new music, and tour dates once those roll around again – it’ll be worth it.
