Welcome back to Happening in Hardcore, your guide to the DIY hardcore scene here in the great DMV! Happy November, moshers! Thanksgiving break is just around the corner but if you’re not going home for the holidays, I got tons of shows to keep you busy.
I know who I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving, and that’s Goomba Productions for working overtime on the lineup of shows this month. All of these sets are gonna go crazy, but my top pick is Girl of Glass in support of their new record (check out that jawn here) with all the biggest names in DMV Myspace Revival and xMERCYx representing Texas sXe, happening at Ottobar November 13th.
For all my Virginia folks, I got a show in Richmond that is absolutely worth the drive on the 14th, pop out to see the goats of DMV Straight Edge Screamo XmiseryisabutterflyX (check out their new EP here) and put the violence in emoviolence to Starveling, Neighborshootsneighbor, and Massena at the Apoth. No one turned away for lack of funds at this one so no excuse to not be there.
And if you’re still riding the high of Turnstile’s Washington Monument show and want to see more Hardcore for a good cause, come to the Punk Rock Flea Market November 21st and help support Heal Palestine where you can catch Striking Distance and Corvo before they say farewell alongside Laughing Corpse, Seclusion, Psyop, Sluggo, and Draw a Blank. 7 bands for 20 dabloons is great bang for your buck and for a great cause, too!
And finally, finish off your Black Friday and kick off your weekend with a 2-for-1 special, a split set of Fade to Nothing and Faith in Destruction playing the SAME STAGE at the SAME TIME. Headlining is Year of the Knife with Gun to God’s Head and Execute so get all your thanksgiving family dinner rage out in the pit at the Songbyrd at 8 pm.
