To the WVAU community, alumni and college radio lovers,
We are your General Managers Sam Merar-Osborne and Haddy Greenidge, and we wanted to give a big welcome back to the coolest club on campus, WVAU.
For those of you who are brand new here and might be wondering what WVAU is all about, look no further! Founded in 1982, WVAU is AU’s student-run, online-only radio station that has not only become the home to AU’s music-loving community but has also become an active voice in the DMV music scene. From our Kay basement DIY shows to our semesterly Capitol Boogie to almost 140 hours of programming every week, it is safe to say that the WVAU community is alive and thriving. We have over 200 active members, from DJs to our art, music and web staffs, and are so excited to keep growing this semester!
Although our studio might look a little different this year, our executive board is working day and night to make sure we can still connect as a community without having a shared space. Don’t worry, there will still be a physical studio to stream out of—we’ve been working super hard to set it up and make it feel just as cozy as the old one! Not to mention that we’re also working to create even more small and large scale events to connect both the WVAU community and DMV college radio scene, so definitely keep an eye out. We’re also super excited about our beautiful, brand-new website courtesy of our Web Directors, Eva and Emma! Speaking of which, make sure to keep an eye out for all the freshest music journalism and reviews from music and web staff, as well as the upcoming zine from art staff.
There are so many things we are looking forward to this semester and we cannot wait to share them all with you–if you have any questions, ideas, concerns, or just wanna chat, feel free to email us at [email protected]. And remember, DJ and web staff apps are due on 9/6/24, while art and music staffs are rolling!
Ps: alumni!! Love WVAU? Already graduated from AU? Join our growing alumni network with the link below! We’re working on cool events, making merch available to alumni, and creating a space to share music-related opportunities.
