Iniko, whose pronouns are they/them, is a singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, New York. Growing up, they were influenced musically by their father, who is the lead singer of a reggae band called Soldiers, as well as singing in church. They first gained attention with their song “The King’s Affirmation” in 2022, which was actually inspired by Nicki Minaj’s “Do We Have a Problem?” This track helped Iniko rise to fame and earned them a deal with Columbia Records. Their most popular song, however, is one that you may or may not recognize, but have likely heard of: “Jericho.” This song was remixed and covered on TikTok by mass audiences, with over 27 million views on YouTube.
The 9:30 Club, where the concert will be held, has a unique history; it first opened in a part of Washington, D.C. that still had boarded-up buildings from the riots that happened in 1968. The club has booked shows for famous artists like Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers, and has been named the top nightclub by Rolling Stone, Billboard, and Pollstar. The iconic venue is the most attended club of its size in the world, so keep that in mind if you go!
Tickets for Iniko at the 9:30 Club on Oct. 11 are still available for purchase here. Doors open at 10:00 p.m. – I hope to see you there!
