Midterm season got you down? As we move into the last stretch of the fall semester, why not spend your hard-earned downtime at a good old-fashioned live music performance?
The Wombats — English indie-rock trio consisting of Matthew Murphy, Tord Øverland Knudsen, and Dan Haggis — will play Tuesday, Nov. 11, at The Anthem, and you will not want to miss it.
This will be part of The Wombat’s tour for their sixth studio album “Oh! The Ocean,” which they’ve described as their “most sophisticated and sonically adventurous album yet.” The album aims to move away from the style previously associated with the band (their songs “Greek Tragedy” and “Turn” are popular examples), and explore a wide range of genres. Their new song “I Love America And She Hates Me” was a great first single that demonstrated that they’re still capable of dominating the airwaves (heard it on Alt Nation every day after it came out!). At a time when AI is becoming more prevalent in methods of recording and producing popular music, The Wombats aimed to create a “far more natural and human” listening experience, something I’m sure many of us can appreciate.
Tickets for The Wombats at The Anthem on Nov. 11 are still available for purchase here. Doors are at 6:00 p.m., and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. See you there!
