Goodbye Summer/Back To School Playlist 2014F!

Courtesy of Billboard Let it be known; as August rattles its last breath and we’re plunged from a dream of summer into the cruel ice bucket challenge of fall semester, WVAU.org will raise its sleepy head in service of the better things. After all, going back to school may be a drag but if you’re a WVAU kid it’s got its fair share of excitements as well: getting back to the nation’s capital, seeing all your budz, and learning about ALL the cool new music you may have missed over the summer! We have here a *Fall 2014 Back To School Playlist* to be a transitional object to clutch to yourself as you enter the new school year. Lovingly cobbled together by us Web Directors, it’s a collection of 30 songs that gave our summers a memorable soundtrack. We’d love to share them all with you! From Leigh you’ve got the fun summer jams: pop, rap and R&B grooves from the likes of Sylvan Esso, Ariana Grande, Kimbra, tUnE-yArDs, Lykke Li, FKA twigs, Big K.R.I.T., clipping and more. Jesse on the other hand gets nostalgic about bummer summers with rock from people like Alex G, Ovlov, Parquet Courts, Naomi Punk, Baked, and Alvvays. We rubbed off a little on each other, though! Leigh included some lower-key songs from Spoon and Perfume Genius, while Jesse left his indie rock shrine for two great loves, Lana Del Rey and Todd Terje. Hope you enjoy!
