(Mostly) Instrumental electronic beats
Stage Hands is an album consisting almost only of electronic beats and drumming, but the duo manage to convey a wide range of emotions and styles with their instruments of choice. The album starts off with a relatively simple beat, with a whimsy feel as more sounds are layered on top of it. The interesting sounds paint the picture of space exploration by a rookie astronaut. Suddenly the next track has more of a loungy feel to it, with marimbas and jazzy drumming making for a more sophisticated atmosphere. Worth noting is the one track that they have singing on, “#unabomberÛ. This time the beats are arranged in a more industrial fashion, with the ambient vocals becoming more and more distorted as the song progresses. The album manages to make each song feel totally different from the rest, and a full listen will provide a wide range of experiences.
