This week I have the pleasure of introducing a wonderfully weird and unique album: Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) by Brian Eno. The sound of it is quite indescribable, ranging from tracks that seem to be meant for children, such as “Put A Straw Under Baby” to lyrically darker songs such as my two favorites “The Great Pretender” and “Third Uncle”. Eno truly demonstrates his range of music styles on Tiger Mountain, his second solo release. It’s an oldie, so add this to the list of albums your parents probably listened to in the 1970’s when they were cooler than you.

I listened to this album while riding my bike on the C & O Canal, which runs along the Potomac down to Georgetown. But if you’re really needing a break from DC, the trail runs 184 miles up to West Virginia and Pennsylvania. To get to the trail from campus, just head west until you hit the Potomac. There is a gravel trail for hikers, and a paved one for bikers and runners. Go check it out- its hard to believe it is in DC.
