Radio may be the last place you can have an entry-level job where you belly-laugh for a living, where shoestring budgets and a desperate need for creativity in content have cracked an opening wide enough for an impoverished few to shine. The pitfalls are the same as in other media: centralization, consolidation, homogenization. The perks are few: the bottom rung of celebrity is a poor place to stand and be noticed.

But if you can cut through all the clutter, you’ll find a meritocracy of content: a place where well-wrought words and clever presentations can and will demand the audience’s attention. The challenge is to be worth their time.

Join SiriusXM White House Correspondent Jared Rizzi for a discussion and Q&A about broadcasting today, how the medium will evolve and how you can break into an industry career – or create your own.
