I’ve been listening to David Stewart ever since I found his collaborative EP Dark Side of Paradise with Sango, released in 2012. Since then, I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear more from this young Londoner. If you dig the alternative R&B, sultry voices of British male singers (e.g. James Blake, Sam Sparro), then definitely check out David Stewart.
From a feature by Youtube music blog Majestic Casual, the first track I’d heard and that I highly recommend is ” Silly Boy” (produced by Sango). Sango’s exquisite lo-fi, future beat instrumental is highlighted on this track with the combination of Stewart’s cooing, soft and soulful voice.
Stewart just released a new track on his Soundcloud for the first time in almost three years. I am so excited to be talking about him as he puts out some amazing new material. His latest track, “Girlfriend,” is worth a listen. Still upholding a very Soulection-esque, down tempo melody with some old-school R&B drums, Stewart’s voice complements the track and is reminiscent of a young JT.
It’s exciting to see artists grow over the years and I’m expecting a lot to take off for Stewart. Maybe I have a soft spot for soulful British singers like Stewart or maybe his voice is one that a majority of people do seem to enjoy (I mean, Sam Smith did win at the Grammys this year). Regardless, Stewart is definitely an artist to watch.
