Garage punk and indie noise pop in one? Wavves takes the Black Cat stage with a genre-blending grunginess you can only expect from a San Diego rock band.

Formed in 2008 by frontman and vocalist Nathan Williams, Wavves grew to incorporate the talents of Alex Gates on guitar, Stephen Pope on bass, and Ross Traver on drums. Lauded by music media publications such as Pitchfork, Williams is referred to as a “lightning rod” of Indie Rock.

The band’s combative genius shines through on their newest 2021 album, Hideaway, which their current North American Tour supports. Hideaway contains multitudes while keeping consistent with the rest of the band’s discography, alternating between the brisk tempo they’re known and loved for and twinkling ballads to slow it all down. The guitars’ alt-rock sound and Williams’ biting lyrics are sure to reinspire anyone’s punk phase.

Wavves comes to Black Cat on October 22, 2021; doors open at 8 pm. Tickets are $25.00 in advance and $30 at the door. To enter, you must show proof of a complete COVID-19 vaccination or proof of a COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to the event, administered by a medical professional.
