Classic Elbow sound, twenty years deep.

The title of Elbow‰’s sixth full-length album, The Take Off and Landing of Everything seems to foreshadow the themes of the album: the pondering thoughts of life and death. “This Blue World‰” isn‰’t the best opener to the album; an inescapable sadness will overcome you before the realization sinks in. The majority of the songs are between five and six minutes long. While most artists create beautifully crafted tunes that have the ability to captivate their audiences for it‰’s entirety, the ones in this album seem to lose steam half way through, making the songs a bit dull. With this being said, Elbow has been making music for the past twenty years; within the six full-length albums they have released, they refuse to compromise their style. “Charge‰” and “Fly Boy Blue/Lunette‰” are two of the highlights within the bunch, paving the way to one of the most personal Elbow records to date.
