Funky, Soulful, Electronic, and Dance-inspiring
Maya Vik has hit a perfect balance between her own unique sound and years of inspiration reaching back to the 1970s and 1980s. On It is funky with fun bass lines and colorful instrumentation. The album‰’s second track, “Dynamite,‰” features fierce percussive elements and a rocking guitar solo contrasted with Maya Vik‰’s light refreshing voice. Besides these danceable jams, a funky eclectic sound is brought to the album through the heartfelt duet, “Be The One‰” and the imaginative “Be For Me‰” where Maya Vik shares her romantic needs and desires. On It features a cover of Ready For The World‰’s hit “Oh Shiela,‰” where she provides her own interpretation of the classic. This album could come off as something that has “already been done,‰” but Vik pays homage to her inspiration while bringing her own sound and compassion to the tracks.
