Super fun, true, poppy garage rock with an edge.

With their self-titled debut album, Drowners might just solidify a reputation as a fun, tenacious garage pop band. The whole album is compact, catchy, and full of cute-yet-melancholy songs about the struggles and triumphs of love. A bit of punk rock permeates these songs, offering some aggression to the otherwise sweet poppy melodies. Upbeat and honest, songs like “Luv, Hold Me Down‰” and “Bar Chat‰” guarantee to keep listeners singing and dancing along. The band slows it down a little for “A Button On Your Blouse‰Û, with dreamier vocals and a more 80s style than the rest of the album. Drowners has well-written lyrics, polished riffs, and spunky melodies, making it especially impressive for a debut album. This band definitely has a bright future ahead.
