Dynamic post-punk with shades of pop and 80s alternative.

Vancouver-based band Mode Moderne manages to combine the best of post-punk with that of dreamy indie-pop, and the final product, new album “Occult Delight‰Û, is definitely worth a listen. Occult Delight‰’s opener “Strangle the Shadows‰” is reminiscent of 80s alternative favorites like The Cure and The Smiths with similar echoey vocals and tasteful synth. Occult Delight ranges from ominous and a little morbid (“Grudges Crossed‰Û, “Severed Heads‰Û) to positive and poppy (“Baby Bunny‰Û, “She, Untamed‰Û). The album‰’s closer, “Running Scared‰Û, is a melodic, epic ballad full of melancholy and brilliantly done strings melodies. Overall, Mode Moderne has created a fresh and dynamic set of songs that lives up to the band‰’s reputation as a developed and innovative band.
