Quilt- Held In Splendor

Quilt- Held In Splendor

Anna Walsh

Sweet, psychedelic pop-rock

Quilt‰’s newest release, Held In Splendor, showcases the band holding life in splendor indeed. Much of the album seems like a springtime trance, with dreamy vocals over rolling bass and poppy percussion. Delicate guitar melodies float over thoughtful lyrics on songs like “Talking Trains‰” and “Just Dust‰Û. Quilt alternates between a male and female lead vocalist, which allows the band to give each song the vibe it needs. However, this album is unique in offering genuine, fast-paced rock songs with all the energetic hooks and electrifying riffs to keep a crowd jumping, with the best example being “Tired & Buttered‰Û. The band keeps their sound dynamic and experimental, using many sounds you wouldn‰’t find on an average pop-rock record. Overall, Held in Splendor is an upbeat, sweet dream.
