Raw emotion and guitars

The first full-length album released by Baby Baby is pretty decent. There is a diverse range of songs, however some of them lacking climactic moments. The timber of the vocals is similar to those of Paul Banks of Interpol and Hamilton Leithauser of The Walkmen, while the instrumentation and the style varies a bit from these two bands, making their sound unique. “Pleasure Gun‰” and “Smoke Rings‰” are two of the better songs on the album, showing off the different strengths of the group. “Pleasure Gun‰” is more aesthetically pleasing, with twangy guitars demonstrating the rise and fall of the piece. The songs near the end of the album are more emotional. With each strain of the vocals, an emotion of longing is quickly inflicted in the listener; this being most evident in “Smoke Rings.‰” If you are into the indie rock scene, and are tired of the same-old sound, definitely give this album a listen.
