Quick paced garage rock

The quick paced rock and roll sound of Shelters can be heard on their new EP, Penny Gaff. Most songs are short and punchy, like “Les Fleurs Du Mal” and “For The Lovers,” which use quick power chords over clear vocals. Shelters‰’ new release has been compared to The Clash and Speedy Ortiz, so I was really excited to hear it. But after listening to the six song EP, I was kind of let down. I would compare their music more to newer Arctic Monkeys releases like Suck It and See. The EP is not bad per se, but I just don’t think that comparing the band to great punk rock and garage rock names like The Clash is applicable. I was a little underwhelmed to say the least.
