Dark and very mysterious.

This is an interesting album. It is hard to pinpoint exactly what this band is all about. There are moments within this album that are brilliant, whereas others are lackluster. The opening track, “Perennial Bulb,‰” has a mysterious start that feels as if it could spontaneously explode with sound at any moment, which it eventually does (kind of). The track is unpredictable, with the synthesizers in high blast and the guitars pounding away creating the rise and fall. There is a smooth transition into the second track, “Terrifying Sea,‰” which is equally as good, if not better. It isn‰’t sprawling all over the place or nearly as interesting as its precursor, but the chorus is really moving with the vocals as the focal point and the melodies swarming around it. The quality of the songs slowly fades as the album progresses, gradually picking back up again with “Sunburn.‰” Overall, it is a fairly decent album with a couple great tracks that will keep you in a state of wonder throughout.
