_An album in the truest sense of the word _

The Notwist album Close To The Glass starts off with the song “Signals,” which layers a series of techno sounds that make you feel like you’re flying in a futuristic spaceship. Markus Archer’s voice is calming and smooth, similar to Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie. Many of the songs have this unique juxtaposition between Archer’s soothing voice and distorted, fast, electronic, percussions that create a feeling of anxiety similar to Broken Social Scene. In songs like “Kong” and “Casino,” the presence of guitars is more apparent, and also where I see the most parallels between Death Cab for Cutie. I found this album to be really well produced, with the songs flowing flawlessly. I would highly recommend listening to this entire album as a whole, because single songs don’t do it justice.
