Stirring up the singer songwriter world.

Well-known for co-writing Feist‰’s song “1, 2, 3, 4,‰” Sally Seltmann incorporates many of the whimsical characteristics found in that song and combines them with quirky lyrics and unpredictable instrumentations. She is an extremely talented musician and composer. Even if you don‰’t particularly enjoy her style of music, the way she incorporates so many different instruments, while still having the ability to craft transitions that make sense and mold all of the songs together, creates quite a masterpiece. Her slower ballads are definitely the stronger points of the album, “Dear Mr. Heartless,‰” “Right Back Where I Started From,‰” and “Seed of Doubt,‰” being a few of the standouts. Her more upbeat songs, including the first two opening tracks, tend to lean towards the corny side. With this being said, a good bit of Sally Seltmann‰’s lyrics are simple, but emotional, making them relatable for listeners. When she pairs them with a violin or piano in a basic arrangement, it is alluring; this album really has it all.
