Under the Tide: Classixx

Spotify is a great tool to discover music. Enter a musician‰’s name, search related artists, and within seconds you find yourself grooving to new beats. That was what happened when one fine day at work, when I was searching for something fresh with a good tempo for a mundane shift. There‰’s only this amount of times you can repeatedly abuse the replay button on your Spotify playlist.

I‰’ve been trying to get on the EDM bandwagon for a while, but with no success because I just prefer alternative music. However, Classixx has managed to squirm its way into my playlist and has been on heavy rotation for a while. Their latest (and only) offering thus far is Hanging Gardens, which was released last year. I got into it relatively easier, with many of their tracks giving me a feel of lush, bringing me to a new zone. I‰’ve always liked electronic music with good beats, but at the same time, not too arresting, along the likes of The Presets, James Blake to a certain extent even though he doesn‰’t fit this mould and Active Child, whom Classixx collaborates with in one of their tracks in the album.

Check out Hanging Gardens, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed. It has already surprised me in a good way, and I cannot get enough of this song. It is a great song to start your day, and one of my favorites as I walk to school. (Even though the video is kind of an anti-climax to this feeling I have).

Classixx ‰ÛÒ “Holding On”

Classixx graces our district on the 24th of March at U Street Music Hall. Tickets are still available! And if you can‰’t get enough of them with just this track, Classixx does you lots of favors with this rendition of Phoenix‰’s Lisztomania which is almost a crime to not listen to.
