Lime Cordiale - Falling Up the Stairs (Chugg Music)

Tori Tropiano

The lovechild of Vampire Weekend and the Beach Boys.

While clocking in at a mere eighteen minutes, Lime Cordiale packs a distinctive sound in their newest EP, Falling Up the Stairs. Kicking off the “Bullshit Aside‰Û, Lime Cordiale brings a 60s beachy vibe with a pleasant little melody that‰’s more than easy on the ears. The EP hits a bit of a lull with “Famous‰” a calmer tunes that tends to fall more bland than mellow. This “60s surf pop‰” vibe continues through the groovy drums of “Sleeping at Your Door‰” with sounds like the love child of Vampire Weekend and The Beach Boys. The EP‰’s titular song, “Falling Up the Stairs‰” manages to create the harmonically interesting jam “Forever‰” only hopes to be. “Everything Else‰” finished off the album with a surprisingly more jazzy bit that has one of the catchiest vocals on the entire EP. Despite the complete and utter bore that is “Forever,” Lime Cordiale‰’s Falling Up the Stairs is a sweet throwback to the innocent days of surf pop.
