Only two years after the release and success from their first album, Light Up Gold, the Brooklyn punk outfit Parquet Courts have announced the release of their new album Sunbathing Animal. Along with the announcement of their new album, they also released a new single, which takes the name of the album.

While it has not been too long since we‰’ve last heard from Parquet Courts (the EP Tally All The Things That You Broke was released in late 2013), the song “Sunbathing Animal” does sound significantly different then classics off Light Up Gold such as “Stoned and Starving,” and “Borrowed Time”. “Sunbathing Animal” holds a much faster pace, with loud and obnoxious singing by lead singer and guitarist Andrew Savage. With its Black Flag upbeat drumming and Darby Crash lyrical singing progression, “Sunbathing Animal” is a brash 21st century punk song.

Although little is still known about the album, from the sound of its first released song, it will likely be much faster and more grittier then Light Up Gold. This new album will also be more heavily judged in comparison to Parquet Court‰’s first, which came out of nowhere. Complete with 13 original songs, including “Sunbathing Animal,” the album will drop the third of June.
