Sometimes a good playlist is all you need to brighten up your day when your inner light is wavering.

That‰’s okay! Being genuinely positive all the time is hard. False positivity is energy draining and harmful. But true positivity, the kind that radiates from within and lasts a lifetime, takes great care and time. And sometimes, it needs some outside forces to help it grow.

Here are a few songs to help build up that positivity so you can go about your day a little more uplifted.

1. Junglepussy, “Bling Bling‰Û

If you‰’re not following Junglepussy on Twitter, you‰’re seriously missing out. She is so overwhelmingly empowering, promoting self love, self care, and sisterhood. This fearless Brooklyn-born rapper released her mixtape Satisfaction Guaranteed this year and it‰’s basically kind of a guide on how to own your power.

“Bling Bling‰” is a chapter on how to realize a guy is useless and not good for you. Junglepussy‰’s flow is forceful but serene and the instrumentals are hypnotic. Best lines include “it‰’s a full time job fucking loving yourself‰” and “Looking out for my mama and my day one bitches / independent women we accumulating riches‰Û.

2. Doja Cat, “Beautiful‰Û

Pretty self-explanatory. Inspiring lyrics paired with the crisp production of hypnotic bass and soulful violins. This L.A.-based artist gets straight to the point with the hook “I‰’m beautiful / I know it so‰” that will have listeners believing in their own beauty too.

3. Icona Pop, “Girlfriend‰Û

This Swedish DJ duo comprised of Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo really hit it big last year with their omnipresent single “I Love It feat. Charli XCX‰Û. Since then, they‰’ve been a staple at festivals and always give a fun, high-energy performance.

Whether you take it as an ode to friendship or romantic love, “Girlfriend‰” is 100% positive. It’s basic message is “yeah cool to be self-reliant but having a great friend or lover that can support you is amazing too‰Û. The bright synths and pumping percussion line evoke images of endless summer road trips and deep bonding sessions.

4. Mapei, “Don‰’t Wait‰Û

The bass, combined with the rush of drums and handclaps, made “Don‰’t Wait‰” the perfect summer anthem and introduced Mapei to the world. Her debut album Hey Hey was released last month and she‰’s on tour now with Lykke Li.

Again, “Don‰’t Wait‰” has nurturing, loving friendships at its core. Mapei raps, “Not a thing in the world could get between what we share / no matter where you at, no worry I‰’ll be there / no one‰’s got your back like I do / even when business ain‰’t going well, we still cool‰Û. It‰’s a great message for community; you need to surround yourself with people that love you and have your back so that you can shine your brightest.

5. Willow Smith, “Easy Easy (King Krule)‰Û

This song is positive based purely on what a great cover it is. Willow Smith ‰ÛÒ of “Whip My Hair‰” fame ‰ÛÒ took King Krule‰’s “Easy Easy‰” and made it her own. Feel your spirit rise with Smith‰’s added harmonies and soft vocals. Take a deep breath. Exhale. Repeat.
