90‰’s mainstream punk for a modern era.

Rancid is one of those bands who needs no introduction to a certain group of people. One of the founding bands of the mainstream punk revival in the 90‰’s, Rancid has been in the game for well over a decade now, and they‰’re still going strong on their latest record. The guttural singing, chugging power chords, and simple but powerful bass and drums are reminiscent of middle and high school memories of tall mohawks and general discontent with society that many of us can relate much too well to, but not in an embarrassing way. The mainstream punk classics of songwriting are all present: songs of rebellion, getting drunk, and sticking to the man all set to energetic punk anthems. The band also spurs a strange but strong sense of camaraderie with gang vocals on songs urging listeners to collectively “raise your fist against the Power‰Û. The sense of brotherhood is sure to be compounded tenfold at a live show.
