Sunny splendid sounding guitars playing melodic riffs.

Brooklyn-based band, Darlings‰’ most recent release is one of laid-back, melodic guitar music. The album kicks of with a sweetly thematic guitar tune with accented complexities in the rhythm section. Think Beach Fossils meets Real Estate catchy guitars. The lyrics are candid but whimsical “I won‰’t ever give in, trouble always finds us in the end,‰” rings the refrain of the last song of Feel Better. The band relishes in its versatility in “Gardone‰Û, “Mein the Sky‰Û, or “Strap‰” that musters a Yuck-esque guitar tone. Darlings love to contrast these two guitar tones in songs. There‰’s a certain warmness to their music that‰’s be partially attributed to singer Peter Rynsky‰’s colloquial lyrical delivery. A lot of the reverb-heavy, melodic guitar lines form “Av Community Events‰” take us to sunnier climates. “Always Remember‰” creates an uneasy feeling as the band skips like a scratched record while playing the main theme. The guitar in Feel Better is the focal point. It‰’s always prominent, not afraid to be rough and innovative in a truly memorable sort of way. Overall the tone of Feel Better sounds more serious than previously for the band taking on deeper lyrical subjects but it still manages to maintain Darlings‰’ light, poppy sound.
