Concert Preview: Alice Phoebe Lou @ Lincoln Theater on 4/15

Alice Phoebe Lou (of Strongboi) is finally gracing D.C. with her presence!! On April 5, Lou will be stopping in town to do a show at the Lincoln Theater. She’s an independent artist with a very soft, intimate sound, blending indie, jazz, blues, and folk influences seamlessly into something new. You may have heard her song “Witches” before, released in 2020 during a time when many of us were listening to a lot of bedroom pop.

For those who’ve not listened to her before, Alice Phoebe Lou’s sound is very much a mix of bedroom pop with folk and jazz influences. If you’ve listened to and enjoyed artists like Clairo, Cornelia Murr, Men I Trust, Angel Olsen, Salami Rose Joe Louis, or Loving – I highly recommend listening to Lou’s new album “Oblivion”. After the initial release, she did an AMA on Reddit where I think she described her songs rather perfectly as “a kind of stream of consciousness therapy for getting over a lot of the difficulties that come along with [being a recovering people pleaser]”. “Oblivion” definitely carries through with that feeling, songs like “Pretender” taking the listener through her growth and understanding of self-worth and love.

Alice Phoebe Lou is currently on a month-long tour through North America, and tickets for her D.C. show at the Lincoln Theater are still available here. Doors open at 8 p.m.
