Concert Preview: Perfume Genius @ Lincoln Theater on 3/31

The Lincoln Theatre has hosted several incredible artists over its tenure in D.C., including Fiona Apple, Bon Iver, and Duke Ellington. Joining the ranks of these legends and more is the Grammy-nominated Perfume Genius, set to perform Tuesday, March 31.

Perfume Genius, formally known as Michael Hadreas, dropped his seventh studio album, “Glory,” in March 2025, and his tour date at the Lincoln Theatre is the second of nine shows in a newly added run of tour dates. He previously visited the 9:30 Club on his first tour last June, but his show at the Lincoln Theatre is expected to be a more instrumental and intimate performance.

Hadreas’s intimate art-pop sound will pair beautifully with the regal Lincoln Theatre, a venue with a certain old-school vibe. Joining Perfume Genius is his husband, Alan Wyffels, who worked on “Glory” and will be adding live piano arrangements throughout the set.

Opening before the duo’s set is Dan English, another Iowa-born musician, who masterfully composes multi-instrumental chamber pop. His music incorporates electronic influences alongside the overall sound, accompanying Perfume Genius’s sound perfectly, setting up what looks to be an unforgettable show.
