Concert Preview: Patrick Watson @ 9:30 Club on 3/31

Patrick Watson sits between the mainstream and more avant-garde spaces, and more likely than not you’ve heard his music before without knowing it! Je Te Laisserai Des Mots was the first French language song to amass over a billion streams on Spotify, after going viral on TikTok and Instagram over a decade after its release and much of his music has a rather similar vibe (whether in French or English).

While the Québécois artist does operate under a soloist title, most of his projects end up being very collaborative which remains true for this recent tour. His 2025 album Uh Oh features artists November Ultra, MARO, Sea Oleena, La Force (who is currently touring with him), Klô Pelgag, Hohnen Ford, Martha Wainwright, Charlotte Cardin, and Solann. Watson’s strongest songs seem to be the ones where he is collaborating with other artists because it creates a more unique sound (i.e. Mélancolie w/ Safia Nolin). Watson’s got a way of turning depressing emotions and topics into something more palatable and curious, possessing a very ethereal quality due to the poetic nature of his writing.

Watson is currently on a world tour, and he is stopping in Washington D.C. on March 31! His show at the 9:30 Club isn’t sold out yet, but other stops are selling out fast, tickets can be purchased here.
