No Cover: April Fools’!

Kaylee Dugan

I use April Fools‰’ to tell people how I really feel.

Monday:

The Idle Gossip, El Quatro, DJs Mikhail Z. and Teddy “Dos Dedos” Garcia
DC9, 8:30 p.m., $10

While this may seem like a random assortment of bands, it‰’s actually a fundraiser for scooter enthusiasts! If you love vintage scooters (do razors count?) and the scooter “lifestyle‰” then go hang out with The Turnbull DC‰’s and listen to some hardcore, hard rock, soul, ska, and funk.

Tuesday:

Patterson Barrett, Stephanie Urbina Jones
Hill Country Live, 8:30 p.m., FREE

There aren‰’t as many free shows this week as there have been in the past, but if you couldn‰’t get enough of Travis Tritt or Jana Kramer then head over to Hill Country for some free country music. It has a better atmosphere than the Tav and you can get some Blue Bell ice cream.

Wednesday:

The 29th Annual Marvin Gaye Day Celebration
Howard Theater, 8 p.m., $25

Since 1984 the African American Music Association has hosted the annual Marvin Gaye Day Celebration in D.C. Not only will there be great music, food, guest speakers, artists, and dancing, but the AAMA will also be presenting their Outstanding Community Service Award.

Flume, Eprom, Lovelife, Philip Goyette
U Street Music Hall, 10 p.m., $10

If you need something a little more electronic then U Street Music Hall is always a good bet. Australian child prodigy Flume, who began producing at the tender age of 13, will be taking over the club with his most recent hit “Sleepless‰Û.

Thursday:

Green Day with Best Coast
Patriot Center, 7:30 p.m., $65

All I can say is that there are still tickets available for this and that I‰’m horribly confused.

Los Amigos Invisibles
Fillmore, 8 p.m., $22

If you‰’re interested in happiness, dancing or spanish then there is only one place you should be on Thursday night and that‰’s in Silver Spring. Los Amigos Invisibles are more fun than you can shake a stick at and I will be insanely jealous of anyone who gets to see them.

Matt Johnson at Acre 212, 8 p.m., FREE / Elijah Balbed Quintet at Artisphere, 5:30 p.m., FREE
Free stuff! At last! It‰’s not even an April Fools‰’ day prank.

Friday:

Darwin Deez w/ Caged Animals, Me and This Army
Black Cat, 9:00 p.m., $15

If you like fun (and cute) but aren‰’t interested in Los Amigos Invisibles then save your money for Darwin Deez! His music is the cutest, even when the songs are about revenge, so if you‰’ve had a rough week (me! pick me!) Darwin Deez is the perfect pick me up.

Local Natives, Superhumanoids
9:30 Club, 8 p.m.

I know this show and their Saturday show are both sold out but I wanted to include it on the list anyway just in case one of my wonderful readers missed it and was interested in begging outside of the 9:30 Club for spare tickets. I know it seems like those people never get tickets but I have given away extra tickets outside concerts before, so it‰’s worth a shot. Best case scenario you get a ticket, worst case scenario you feel like a loser and metro home crying.
