Hospitality-Troubled (Merge)

Ali Newhard

Indie-Rock, Pop, Groovy

The problem I find with a lot of indie-pop and indie-rock these days is a lack of originality. Thankfully, on Hospitality‰’s new album Troubled there is everything but generic pop music. Amber Papini is the lead singer of this Brooklyn trio and she does an amazing job vocally on all of these tracks, but especially a song like “Going Out‰” where her voice brings an attitude to the lyrics that makes it one my favorite songs on the album. Her voice adds a sincerity to this groovy, chill indie-pop music that‰’s perfect for bopping your head. Unexpectedly, this band, adds little things to songs like bongos creating another layer of originality that I really appreciate. From beginning to end this album flows and is the type of album you only need to listen to once before you‰’re sold.
