Synth-pop til you drop

Architecture in Helsinki has been on the indie-synth-pop scene since 2000, making this their fourteenth release. With happy, synth heavy pop music, this Australian band reimagines some original 80s songs between their synths, vocals, and lyrics. Songs like “I Might Survive‰” make me feel like I‰’ve gone back thirty years and I‰’m dancing with leg warmers on. If you‰’re into 80s pop music with the occasional 70s disco influence, this band is for you. I‰’m trying to find something modern about this album since it‰’s basically 80s music being released in 2014, but I can‰’t really find anything that‰’s new. A lot of the electronic equipment that the band is working with between the synths and the keyboards are going to be more dynamic than 80s bands, but I‰’m not sure if that comes through in any of the songs. Maybe in “U Tell Me‰” there are elements of the electronics that seem more advanced, but aside from that, it‰’s like you‰’re listening to pop music thirty years ago.
