At only 17-years-old, this Australian singer/songwriter is brimming with pure talent. Olivia McCarthy – known as  JOY. – sings elegantly and produces her own tracks. JOY.‰’s vocal style can be compared to other alternative R&B artists like JhenÌ© Aiko and BANKS with that similar air of modern vulnerability and breathy sensuality.

The instrumentals behind her tracks are produced exceptionally well; a mesmerizing combination of both ambient and future sounds. JOY.‰’s tracks are full of emotion and originality. The first track I heard by the singer was “Captured,‰” which has a thoughtful blend of futuristic, smooth beats and ethereal chimes backed by McCarthy‰’s emotive vocals. Featured by Alaya Radio in 2014, this Australian teenager is starting to blossom in the electronic music scene.

JOY. dropped “Weather,” the second single from her Stone EP two weeks ago. Just as I was so
“Captured” (haha) by her voice when I initially discovered her, I am still as blown away by her talent as I had been the first time I heard her. Singularly performed, written and produced by this young musician, JOY.’s latest single does not disappoint.
